School Leaver Employment Support (SLES)

We understand leaving school and entering the workforce can seem very daunting and overwhelming. But you don’t have to be alone in this; we’re here to help you. Here at Joy Careers we empower our school leavers and help them find their CAREER JOY.

We help school leavers with disabilities transition smoothly from school to the workforce through our NDIS funded program, School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES).

Here’s what makes Joy Careers SLES Program different:

Tailored Delivery. We provide One on One expert careers advice that’s tailored to your passions, interests and career goals.

Career Plan. Once we get to know your individual goals, we will create a step by step career plan. This will include a resume, career profile and introductions to employers of your choice.

Workplace Readiness Training. We want you to feel confident within the workplace from day 1. We will help you become workplace ready by teaching you about finances, work related travel, workplace etiquette and time management.

Mentoring. To provide additional assistance, during your work experience placement we will pair you with a workplace mentor. You’ll then have all the support you’ll need as you commence your career journey. Our mentors have a variety of life experience and come from backgrounds such as lived experience with disability or experience in the industry you are looking to launch into.

Careers Counselling. We are trained to provide expert advice and counselling in all things career related including personality profiling, career discovery sessions, training advice and more!

Advocacy. As a Social Enterprise focused on improving career opportunities for our young people through mentoring, advocacy and community we will continue to fight for inclusivity and diversity within the corporate community. We will seek out individual opportunities based upon your Career goals.

Flexibility Flexibility we provide 1 on 1 individualised service that can be delivered anywhere. We acknowledge the ever changing landscape we find ourselves in during this global pandemic.

Eligibility. Your NDIS planner will determine whether you are eligible and will record this in your NDIS plan under “Finding and Keeping a Job”. 17-22 year old participants of school leaving age with disabilities under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
